The AS Level Physics course is intended to provide an interesting and worthwhile study of Physics and its applications in an increasingly technological world. Increasingly, universities and employers are appreciating that Physics provides students with important problem solving skills. Physics is a complete course for those who do not wish to continue their study of Physics further whilst at the same time providing a sound foundation for those who choose to proceed to the A2 level course.
It is extremely desirable for students taking an Advanced Physics course also to continue their study in Mathematics at this level, although those who do not will be given full support in studying the necessary mathematical topics. Anyone considering a university course in Physics must take Mathematics at AS and A2 level.
People with physics backgrounds are involved in: research and development, engineering, finance, IT, medicine, astronomy, meteorology, teaching and telecommunications.
Most courses are two years long unless otherwise stated.
