Overview of the course

Art at KS5 will be a challenging and satisfying experience for the self-motivated student who enjoys expressing personal ideas and feelings in a visual way. Visiting art galleries, attending workshops and keeping a sketchbook* are integral to the course and encourage a personal response. The course will be partly teacher led with discussion and agreed “directed time” leading to independent learning and continual assessment. Support will be given according to the individual needs of the student and may involve attending ‘catch up’ time.

The Fine Art Endorsement specialisms cover:
painting and drawing, mixed media (inc collage and assemblage)
performance and conceptual art
Sculpture
Land or environmental art
Installation
Print making
Film
Digital media

Opportunities

Art can be a relaxing, creative subject to complement almost any other subject. It’s an excellent subject choice for any creative careers which include: illustration, special effects, architecture, fashion, digital illustrator, camera editor, film maker, Youtube.

After completing the programme, successful candidates may progress onto multiple courses at University, as well as various employment opportunities within the industry.
